American Idol lowers age eligibility to 15

American Idol will lower its eligibility age for Season 10, reports USA TODAY’s Bill Keveney, allowing 15-year-olds to audition for the first time. “A lot of young, talented people are now seeking careers and representation before they turn 16,” executive producer Cecile Frot-Coutaz. says. “Lowering the age limit allows us to tap into this talent pool.” The show previously had a 16-to-28 age limit.

The “American Idol” Season 10 audition dates and cities have been announced.

There was some talk about pushing back the auditions to later in the year to accommodate Simon Cowell’s replacement, but it doesn’t look like that will be happening. Although, the producers do judge the initial rounds, so there still is time.

This season you’ll also be permitted to submit an online audition through Myspace. Specifics on that audition setup haven’t been announced yet.

David Cook’s brother, Andrew Cook celebrated his 23rd birthday in Los Angeles last night. Joining the party were David Cook and his band, Lee DeWyze, Ryan Star, and Luke Menard amongst others.

According to RyanStar, the crew sat next to Dr. Dre. And of course, the paps showed up!

On The Scene At The Idols Tour Rehearsals

Posted by Jolena On June - 16 - 20102,082 COMMENTS

Yahoo is doing a series of interviews with The Idols during their rehearsals.. here are the first few they have done. Enjoy!

Season 9 winner Lee DeWyze was (pun intended) painted out to be a novice on “American Idol,” a shy paint salesman with a heart of gold and stomach of butterflies. But truth is, Lee was already a music veteran before he ever auditioned, with years of gigging and recording experience. “Idol” was just part of a progression of a long, ongoing music career, and really, Lee wasn’t quite as skittish or under-confident as Simon Cowell claimed.

    Crystal Bowersox

Crystal’s popularity from the get-go on “Idol” proves that America is ready again for a ’90s-style, Lilith Fair-ly female singer who doesn’t have to flash yards of flesh or team with Autotuned rappers to get ahead. And as this frank interview–conducted while sitting on the floor of the Idols Live Tour rehearsals–indicates, Crystal Bowersox is not a woman anyone ought to mess with, anyway. The lady is just totally badass.

    Casey James

Casey James was one of my favorite contestants on “American Idol” this year.

He was also favored among many other female viewers, of varying age, as his very vocal “Cougars For Casey” fanbase and the shameless fawning of judge Kara DioGuardi proved time and time again.

    Michael Lynche

Big Mike has a big personality and big voice, so perhaps more than any of the Season 9 “American Idol” top 10, he seems ready to rock big stadiums. But along with pursuing his big dreams on Idols Live Tour this summer, he also has to balance his family life, as a husband and new dad. How will the Lynches handle life on the road?
